Basic Module - Module 1

In this very first module you will have the chance to get to know basic concepts of Learning in Encounter. You will take part at an international study day, where you will meet students of different nations, religions and worldviews in order to practice an respectful dialog with each other. Important and latest themes such as peace and war, sacred places or "Who is Man?" will be discussed in this study day in an informed manner.

There are two courses held in this module where you will gain theoretical as well as practical insights in topics such as inclusion, relationship of religion and ethics or democratic education. This module is supposed to last one or two semesters and will include 6 ECTS.

Course 1.1: Basic concepts of Sharing Worldviews – Learning in Encounter (3 ECTS):

This course will be offered asynchronously on the Platform each semester and is held by international experts within the theme of interreligious and intercultural learning. You finish this course by creating an individual or joint portfolio on the content of the lectures. It will be offered on the Platform each semester. It is advisable to study this course as a group - preferably with participants with different world views and nations to yours.

Course 1.2.: A course at your university or at some special partner universities (3 ECTS):

This course will prepare your active participation on an international digital study day as well as offers the opportunity to take part a study day on site. Each university provides information, which classes are foreseen for this course. This course is finished by a written assignment on the study day This assignment contains an in-depth-reflection of the topic and conception of the study day as well as the documentation of the individual learning process.

The courses within the module will help you to reach following learning competencies:

  • You will be familiar with basic terms and didactic aspects of dialogue-based encounter of worldviews and you will be able to reflect critically on them.
  • You are  capable of presenting interdisciplinary topics from the perspective of your own worldview and sharing them in dialogue with different worldviews.
  • You will develop the ability to communicate and cooperate with representatives of different worldviews in an appreciative manner and to respect worldview-related differences in truth claims.

Important topics within this module will be:

  • interculturality, inclusion, democratic education, interreligious education, value-based education,
  • relationship of religion and philosophy,
  • models related to the dialogue of worldviews.
